Clearwater County Selected for National Recreation Economy Program
Clearwater County has been chosen to participate in the prestigious Recreation Economy for Rural Communities (RERC) planning assistance program, aimed at enhancing rural economies through outdoor recreation. As one of only 25 communities selected nationwide for the 2025 initiative, Clearwater County will collaborate with federal agencies, including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service.
The program is designed to help communities utilize their outdoor recreational resources to stimulate local economies and revitalize Main Streets. Susan Jacobson, Director of Clearwater County Economic Development, expressed pride in this recognition, highlighting the county's commitment to expanding recreational opportunities and supporting local businesses.
In the coming months, Clearwater County will engage with national experts and community stakeholders to develop a tailored action plan that integrates Main Street revitalization with outdoor recreation initiatives. This effort includes workshops and collaborative sessions with residents and local leaders, aiming to enhance public health and quality of life through improved trails, parks, and inclusive community spaces.
